The FOCUS Award is returning for its second year and entrants have just under one week left to send in their films for the chance to win unmissable mentorship opportunities with top corporate film companies. The award is aimed at 18-25 year old Black filmmakers and filmmakers of colour who are not currently working in the TV and film industry. All entrants need to do is send in a short film that they have made (no more than 10 minutes in length) and answer a few questions about the film itself, and what filmmaking means to them.
We are delighted to announce the sponsor of this year’s award, film company Gorilla Gorilla!. They produce brand documentary shorts, animated explainers, campaign films, and short and sweet social bites that help their clients make powerful connections with their audiences.
Dean Beswick, Founder & Creative Director, Gorilla Gorilla! says, “Inclusion and diversity is a key topic for much of our film and animation work and for us as a business as we continue to build our own diverse team of talented filmmakers. We’re delighted therefore to be supporting the FOCUS Award to help EVCOM champion talent from under-represented backgrounds.”
Claire Fennelow, EVCOM’s Executive Director, says, “The support that Gorilla Gorilla! are giving this award is invaluable. We are really excited to be working with them on this, and look forward to celebrate young, diverse filmmakers together!”
