This week we celebrated the best of the best in corporate film and corporate events in a virtual ceremony which brought our industries together. The ceremony opened with a quiz as people joined, where guests were called on to guess albums from their artwork alone – a chance for all the creatives in the room to get in the mood!
Claire Fennelow, EVCOM’s Executive Director, and our host Samme Allen then introduced the ceremony. They thanked everyone for joining us in the midst of lockdown 2.0 and encouraged people to send in selfies of them celebrating in their glad rags. Bottles of champagne stood ready on set to be sent on to the best dressed guests of the evening! They also thanked our brilliant sponsors, DRPG, Cvent and IMEX who make this awards possible, and the expert judges whose decisions we were going to hear shortly!
Across categories from ‘Brand Communication’ to ‘Editing’, ‘Best Conference’ to ‘Best Documentary’ Samme and Claire announced our shortlist and then our winners and excerpts from their films were played.
We also announced the winner of our FOCUS Award, who will be receiving an extensive mentorship programme from three of the top corporate film companies: Gorilla Gorilla!, Plastic Pictures and The Edge Picture Company.
Throughout the evening the ceremony also showcased some examples of campaigns, films and projects that have been working hard to gain support and recognition for our industry during Covid-19. We heard from the #MakeItBlue campaign and the One Industry One Voice campaign, and we shared our own NHS fundraising film, ‘These Are the Hands’ made with the support of the BFI.
We also heard from judges Anna Green (Broadsword) and Gabriela Ferenc (A-Vision), from the FOCUS Award Sponsor, The Edge Picture Company, and we went to some live winners for their reactions!
We allowed time for people to charge their glasses mid-ceremony as Hannah Brown sang a beautiful rendition of ‘Dream A Little Dream’ for us all to enjoy!
