EVCOM are really excited to announce a new area on our website dedicated to young people. The area is aimed at young people considering the corporate film and events sector for the first time, and young people who have already chosen our sector, but need guidance about how to get into it, and how to hone their skills in the early years of their career.
This initiative came out of conversations with our shadow board, who spoke about the need for one place where young people can find out more about the corporate film and events industries. We have collated resources including lists of communities and ways to find out more, guides, articles and top tips. There’s a series of interviews with our shadow board, where they talk about their journeys into the industry so far and share their advice for fellow event professionals and filmmakers. We have teamed up with Searchlight, who are working with us on the project to provide career advice and guidance around successfully applying for jobs. And some of our members and partners have kindly shared their expertise, providing invaluable guides and articles for the site.
We will be continually adding to the site with further resources and interview series. We are looking forward to building a space where young people can learn about the opportunities within our sector, and kickstart their careers.
Claire Fennelow, EVCOM’s Executive Director, says, “This new area has been designed to meet a need identified by our shadow board, and we are so grateful to everyone who has already contributed their advice and guidance to it so far. We are so looking forward to continuing to build this space to meet the needs of young people considering our sector, and starting out in it.”
