This week we held the first EVCOM Film Production Lunch in over five years. In the past these were, I believe, only loosely connected to EVCOM but events that were very much enjoyed. Based on feedback from our membership we decided to reintroduce these popular events, to bring together our film members in an intimate and discursive space.
The idea behind the meetings was, and continues to be, to keep these meetings small and collaborative so that the attendees can share and discuss business issues and help each other solve, or at least address, problems. The fact that many in the room share a lot of the same concerns means that the event attendees act as both a support network and a board of advisors in one – and the event took place over a lovely lunch at Riding House to boot.
The discussions were led by Barnaby Cook of Studio Yes and attendees came from both the EVCOM and Video Club memberships. It was a pleasure to partner with Video Club on the event, and we look forward to working together again on our future Film Production Lunches. The format was designed to ensure that practical suggestions could be sought to address real-world issues in a relaxed environment. Our attendees
Top line issues that were identified included margins and cashflow, getting the attention of clients where regular marketing channels have become less effective, growth and adaptation, and closing sales.
This event sold out and we now have a waiting list for the next, which we will be releasing the date for in the coming weeks. If you’d like to ensure you receive notification of forthcoming Film Production Lunches please let me know by emailing Claire.fennelow@evcom.org.uk. I am, as ever, keen to hear people’s suggestions around these kind of events as we would like to maintain them as a regular feature, so don’t hesitate to get in touch. We hope to see you at the next one!
