For this month’s member feature article, we asked our members to send us their work responding to the theme of ‘team’. They shared team building events and company culture initiatives, global events and sustainability certifications that were made possible through a real team effort.

Take a look at the amazing work that our members can do with a bit of team spirit below:

TTA Connect builds connections, accountability and culture

At TTA, we value our people above all else, so we recently hosted a fun and inclusive team building event focused on building our connections, identifying our strengths and fostering open conversations. This was a fantastic opportunity to come together, brainstorm new ideas, and refine our people and culture plan for the coming year (especially important as we continue to offer remote first flexibility). It also helped build a greater sense of accountability within our team, encouraging everyone to continue contributing to a workplace we can all be proud of.

2Heads Showcase Team Spirit

At 2Heads, we take immense pride in the power of teamwork, and nowhere was this more evident than at this year’s Farnborough International Airshow. This event was a monumental team effort, with the majority of our agency coming together to craft unforgettable brand experiences for five major brands, including Airbus and Qatar Airways across nine experiential, product showcase and hospitality environments.

Back at the agency nest our collaborative spirit continued with our Social Media Day initiative to bolster internal camaraderie and showcase our diverse teams. Each of our eight departments developed unique content for a social media takeover, sharing their team’s personality and culture on LinkedIn and Instagram. The Client Service Team emerged victorious, garnering the most impressions with their outstanding content. You can view their winning post here and a roundup here. This initiative not only allowed each team to highlight their identity but also provided valuable insights into effective social media content creation. It was a fantastic way to blend team spirit with professional development, reinforcing our commitment to both our clients and our internal community.

Pure Communications Group deliver their biggest conference of the year thanks to a team effort

This month, Pure Communications Group is celebrating the success of one of its biggest conferences of the year – Interactions 2024 at Woolwich Works. With 1,000 attendees from over 20 countries, a keynote by Steven Bartlett, and a headline performance by Fatboy Slim, this was an event to remember. With a team of 13, Pure successfully delivered a full set build, production, and content, as well as a series of talks and activations across 2 conference days (including a roaming robot and an AI prosecco pouring experience!). The team came together, maximising each member’s strengths by supporting on different aspects of the event, from delegate management, through content creation, to entertainment. The event was a success because of the synchronised efforts of each team member and the positive attitude they all brought to the project.

DRPG‘s Team Summer Conference Combines Wellbeing, Resilience and Adventure

Over 350 DRPG team members from across the organisation’s global offices came together for its annual global summer conference last week at the Hilton Metropole, Birmingham. The spotlighted theme of the conference was wellbeing, developing resilience and retaining positive mental health during this busy period for the global creative communications group. Placing a strong emphasis on people, the group’s newest colleagues attended from The Special Event Company from the USA and Birmingham-based OWB Creative, acquired by the group earlier this year.

The DRPG team were introduced to renowned guest speakers Rebecca Mander and Nick Elston, who delivered keynotes focused on mental resilience in times of adversity. The presentations focused on practical and mental wellbeing skills that can be applied both inside and outside of the workplace.

Group CEO, Dale Parmenter commented, “This conference was an opportunity to put our creative tools down for a day, to take stock of our successes and acknowledge the great work we’re pushing out for our clients globally. Most importantly it was to look inward as a team and build our resilience for another busy half-year.

“We’re doing as much as we can within our own workplace culture at DRPG, but we also want to ensure that our team feel suitably equipped to deal with the various stresses of everyday life – including the present economic, environmental and socio-political current affairs that are happening across the world. It was fantastic to learn of numerous ways to look after ourselves and one another.”

The group’s Next Gen board comprises eight team members aged between 18 and 24 from across the wider business. The young team announced a relaunch of the in-house learning and development function, ‘The Academy’, initiating a new range of tools to help with team development and growth. There was also an update on the newly adopted ‘My Performance’ programme, which was launched at the beginning of the year to help the team monitor their personal career progression.

Alicia Wilson, Head of People at DRPG added, “Our team’s skills are varied and often niche to the different creative services that DRPG offer its clients, from event project managers through to digital developers. It was important that the new phase of The Academy was constructed to accommodate a tailored learning model that is far more than isolated, online training. The Next-Gen Board threw themselves into this challenge and we are proud to launch the new initiative.”

The team were then invited to test their advanced resilience skills at The Bear Grylls Adventure, located within Birmingham’s National Exhibition Centre. After a drinks reception on the lawn overlooking the lake hosted by the NEC, it was back to the Metropole for dinner, ending the event with a colourful Drag Bingo experience courtesy of Berry Productions Ltd.

Plastic Pictures come together to deliver a truly global event

What does it take to deliver 3 hours of content in 11 weeks? A bloody brilliant team, that’s what!

After successfully collaborating with Unilever for Get On the Frontline 2023, our team was invited to craft an even bigger, better, and truly global event for Get On The Frontline 2024.

When we look back at a project like GOTF one thing is certain; a project of this scale would not be possible unless everyone involved pulled together. That’s where the magic came from on this project, everyone had a shared goal to raise the bar from last year and each person did so with a smile on their face (mostly😉).

Everyone involved had to wear numerous hats, problem solve like a supercomputer and multi-task like never before, spinning multiple plates, in multiple time zones, rain or shine. In the face of long hours and the uncertainty a project like this can bring, each person involved brought their best selves both professionally and personally day in and out.

Testament to this team is the day the heavens opened when we were shooting a sofa conversation on a high street. It would have been so easy for everyone to just lose it, pack up and go home. But no, this team pulled together. They smiled in the face of adversity and formed a solid back up plan. Each person did their damnedest to lift the other, each and every one a hero. With so many stories like the above it would be impossible to point to one person, act or creative idea that led to this projects success.

“I’ve been doing this for a long time and Get On The Frontline stands out to me as highlighting some of the best examples of what our industry has to offer globally in terms of production and post-production. The tenacity, general work ethic and pure talent on show from the people across the entire ecosystem, was an absolute joy to behold throughout.” – James Woolley, hats worn on Get On The Frontline: Creative✅ Director✅ Writer✅ Editor✅ Voice Over Artist✅

Starstruck team demonstrate themselves as powerhouse of talent

Starstruck is an agency driven by the spirit of teamwork, a fact perfectly illustrated by our work with Shell on their ‘StartUp Engine Demo Day’. This prestigious event comprised both a large in-person networking component, as well as a live-stream, multi-camera broadcast of a show providing a platform for up-and-coming startups to pitch their big ideas for the energy sector.

From the planning to the execution, every stage of this complex, multi-faceted project showed how a highly-skilled, dedicated and focused team can achieve incredible results. And we really did get involved with everything. From sourcing the venue to overseeing all of the logistics and planning, our expert team made the whole client experience a seamless one, even down to organising the registration, security and cloakroom facilities on the day!

For the 5-camera live broadcast component, Starstruck oversaw the creative and all of the pre-production elements. The show production, direction, staging, lighting design, graphics, and floor management were all provided by our team, as well as our additional sidecar units racing around to capture event highlights and a suite of post-event deliverables.

And, as if that wasn’t enough, here at Starstruck we’re always looking to develop the next generation of production talent, so what better opportunity than this to welcome a group of graduate students into our team and provide them with experience and insight into working on a large scale production with so many moving parts.

We’re incredibly proud of our team; multi-talented, multi-skilled and always willing to go above and beyond. We believe that the way we work and the way we collaborate, even when the demands of a production require us to step outside of our roles, helps raise the bar in the competitive production agency landscape.

And we must be doing something right. After this project, our client praised our “powerhouse of talent” and how they would “never let Shell work with anyone else”. We think that speaks for itself.
