Thank you so much to our inspiring panelists Ashanti Bentil-Dhue (Diversity Ally), Nel Flint (Fast Forward 15 Mentor 2021), Helen Moon (Eventwell), Emma Cartmel (CHS Show) and Angie Mason (Meeting Allstars) for joining us for this week’s panel discussions as part of International Women’s Month in collaboration with HBAA. In a discussion facilitated by Martin Fullard (Conference News), we heard from the women creating vital support services to make this industry more inclusive, more equal and more well.
The panel shared their personal journeys into the industry, including the barriers they faced, sexism in the workplace being a major one. They discussed the progress that the events sector has made, whilst acknowledging that we still have a long way to go, especially from a diversity perspective. All agreed that having the kinds of support services each of our panelists is either running or involved with when they were entering the industry would have been invaluable. Finally, the group shared their thoughts on what they would change about the industry, each bringing their perspectives to the conversation.
