#EVCOMLives16 Rising Star Award to Recognise Inspirational Event Leaders

EVCOM is re-naming its Rising Star category in the Live Awards 2016 to recognise those individuals from the live events industry who throughout their careers inspired the next generation of event professionals.

This year the Award will now be known as The Peter Franks Rising Star Award, in honour of Peter Franks, Chairman and Founder of the TFI Group who sadly passed away last December.

Peter had strong links with EVCOM having been a founder member of industry association ITMA UK, which became EVCOM.  At ITMA Peter was a director and then vice chairman for 13 consecutive years.

“Peter was passionate about the events industry and its role in both the marketing mix and the engagement of audiences,” said Keith Baker, Peter’s long term friend and business advisor.

“He loved investing time in people and took an enormous sense of satisfaction in seeing individuals with whom he worked personally develop themselves and their careers. Indeed, quite often the conversations and meetings he would have with TFI’s young professionals would last longer than one of his Board meetings!”

“Peter would have been extremely proud and humbled to be associated with the Rising Star Award and it is a fitting tribute to someone who cared so much about the role young professionals play in this fantastically dynamic and innovative industry.”

Steve Garvey, EVCOM CEO, added: “The EVCOM Rising Star Award is a fitting tribute to Peter who was an inspirational individual. We are proud for it to bear his name in 2016, a name that is synonymous with the values we look for when judging this Award: aspiration, achievement and advancement.”

The EVCOM Live Awards honour outstanding business and consumer events in the UK and globally recognise the very best work by agencies and the clients who commission them.

The Rising Star Award is given for best new talent. Nominations are encouraged from both the organiser and supplier communities and this category is free to enter.  Nominations should clearly outline the work of the nominated person, including contributions towards successful projects, overcoming challenges and how their work has impacted on the overall organisation. Nominations can be made here before the 4th October.
