The Welsh Government is looking for a highly experienced senior manager to take on this exciting new role, with responsibility for developing an ambitious approach to secure business conferences and events into venues across Wales.
With extensive MICE (meetings, incentives, conferences, events) experience, you will take a commercial approach to building Wales’s profile as a business event destination – focusing on delivering real business – aligned with priority business sectors and academic, scientific and medical strengths. You will develop new ways of working, boosting Wales’s profile and performance, and help build the competitiveness of the Wales business events sector.
With excellent strategic planning and management skills, you will play a pivotal role in developing and delivering a new sustainable approach, harnessing key partners and stakeholders at every level across the public and private sector, including creating a long-term funding model.
We are looking for someone with:
- management experience within the business events sector with a demonstrable track record of developing and delivering strategies to attract business events, preferably at a destination level
- an excellent understanding of the U.K. and international MICE market, and a network of contacts
- excellent leadership and project management skills and experience of handling complex public and private sector stakeholder relationships and managing a team to successfully deliver large-scale projects, ideally with matrix working experience
