Our new board members bring an exciting mix of creativity, strategic vision, and industry-wide insight. Their expertise spans global event production, talent development, experiential brand-building, and sustainable business strategies.
Introducing the New Board Members
Ajay Parekh – Executive Producer/Creative Consultant
Ajay is a globally experienced event consultant, having delivered events and communication programmes in over 30 countries. His career journey spans creative agencies such as Park Avenue Productions, MCI UK, Imagination, and Project Worldwide. With a background in theatre and film, Ajay applies his production expertise to craft impactful live experiences. His deep understanding of agency operations and international best practices makes him an invaluable advocate for EVCOM’s agency and freelance members.
Phil Staines – Chief of Staff, Strata
With 15 years in the events and communications industry, Phil has held key roles in commercial, strategic, and delivery-focused capacities at leading global agencies. Currently Chief of Staff at Strata, he plays a pivotal role in shaping growth strategies. His experience also includes supporting a tech start-up in the pharmaceutical sector. A passionate mentor, Phil is committed to developing the next generation of industry talent, ensuring that EVCOM remains forward-thinking and supportive of emerging professionals.
Jonathan Read – Co-Founder & Joint CEO, Tobacco Dock
Jonathan is an entrepreneur with over 20 years of experience in strategic brand experiences. As a founder of Tobacco Dock and The Dock, he has created influential spaces for business, creativity, and events. His career has spanned FMCG to NGOs, with clients as diverse as Grey Goose and the Saudi Red Crescent Air Ambulance Service. His deep knowledge of venue management and experiential brand strategy will enhance EVCOM’s ability to support venue partners and event professionals.
Sam Wilson – Managing Director, Syntiro Associates
A leader in sustainability and environmental management, Sam has developed university modules on sustainability and is a recognised industry expert in ISO certification. As Managing Director of Syntiro Associates, she provides strategic sustainability consultancy for the events and communications industry. Her expertise will help drive EVCOM’s commitment to sustainable event practices, ensuring that our industry remains future-focused and responsible.
