With the support of the whole Business Visits & Events Partnership, the BVEP Skills, Talent & Diversity Working Group (ST&DWG) are delighted to be reigniting the official Event Apprenticeship Programme (EAP). At a time of workforce challenges, the Working Group aims to create a recognised and coordinated event apprenticeships offer across the UK events sector. Our very own Claire Fennelow, Executive Director at EVCOM, is going to be a part of that working group and is looking forward to helping deliver and promote the programme.
Claire says, “I am really excited to be part of the apprenticeship focused working group. It’s a brilliant opportunity to get more young people engaged in our industry, as well as to tackle the current barriers to entry.”
Picking up the reigns of the existing Event Assistant Apprenticeship and working alongside associated apprenticeships such as the Live Event Technician, Creative Venue Technician and Live Event Rigger, the group will work with event businesses to build a sustainable model for success.
Apprenticeships offer an accessible and alternative route into industry, supporting people from underprivileged backgrounds and minority communities with paid work, training, and education. This scheme offers young people the opportunity to work in an events company or events department in an organisation, helping event planners and project managers to organise and host events. Typically the apprenticeships last for 18 months, with huge learning opportunities throughout.
The Event Apprenticeship Programme is seeking industry employers to take the role of Trailblazers. Trailblazers are industry people who want to drive the apprenticeships forward, a group of employers recognised by the Institute for Apprenticeships & Technical Education and reflective of those who employ people in the occupation, including small employers.
Anyone interested in becoming a Trailblazer or learning more about the scheme at this early stage can contact Richard Waddington chair@ema-uk.com or Naomi Hollas naomi.hollas@outlook.com. Interested in getting involved? Let us know by giving us your details: https://forms.gle/Bg7eRsEVEpyapbh97
