We are really looking forward to holding our first Freelancer’s Forum at the end of the month! Covid-19 has seen our freelance community struggle with the lack of support offered by the Government, despite freelancers being such a core part of our industry. We first brought freelancers together in April for our webinar ‘Being Freelance in the Current Climate’, which you can catch up here.
Out of this webinar came a promise to support freelancer’s in whatever way we could. We pledged free membership to new freelance members joining EVCOM until the end of 2020, and set up introductions between freelancer’s and corporate film agencies. Find out more about these initiatives and how to make the most of them here.
Now we are bringing freelancer’s together again to discuss, in a safe space, the issues freelancers are facing, from financial concerns to isolation. We will share useful resources, favourite film directors (be ready with your answer!) and ask freelancer’s what more EVCOM can be doing to support this vital part of our community, as well as sharing a new pledge of our own. The session will be led by EVCOM Board Member and freelance filmmaker Tim Langford, and EVCOM member and freelance filmmaker Sara Beadsmoore. We had hoped to hold this event in a pub, so do feel free to come along with a well-earnt glass of wine or a virtual pint if you’d like to!
The event will be taking place virtually on 28th October, 5pm – 6pm.
Freelancers can register for their free place here. We look forward to seeing you there!
