PROJECT AIMS

The films were the centerpiece of a training session designed to reinforce production safety and maintain the health and wellbeing of employees. Delegates were asked to identify character’s specific attitudes, which prompt their unsafe behaviour. The films explicitly demonstrate the consequences of not taking personal responsibility for a safety culture.

 

INTENDED AUDIENCE

Toyota’s production line was shut down for three hours (at a cost of approximately £200,000) so that their entire 600-strong workforce (split in two groups) could attend a ninety-minute Behavioural Health and Safety workshop.
The session was the culmination of a long-term training programme and was delivered inside the manufacturing plant. The films were used to introduce and illustrate the subject matter and deliver a chilling final message.

 

MEASURES OF IMPACT AND EFFECTIVENESS

The Key Performance Indicator that Toyota use to measure the efficacy of safety training is the number ofworking days lost as a result of safety incidents. In the 12-month period after our training intervention, the Deeside Plant was the best performing (safest) Toyota site in Europe.
